GTE

16Jun10

What up, boos! The boys and girls of the Jersey Shore may have their GTL (gym, tan, laundry), but I have my own version: GTE. Gym. Tan. Eat. Lez go.

I woke up at the early hour of 11:30am. Not early, you say? You would be correct. I’m soaking up being lazy and sleepy for as long as possible.

Around noon, I enjoyed a delicious and textural brunch:

Yumerooni.

In the bowl: 1/2 C Fage, corn bran, berries, PureVia and peanut butter drizz. Absolutely divine:

Wonderful blend of creamy, thick (grossing myself out), crunchy, sweet and tangy.

Porny.

I followed that with two cups of black coffee and two hours of chatting with Nannykins. Oh how I love tales of love and war!

I may have been laying on the ground and using a pup as a pillow.

Eventually, I made my way to the YMCA Express for the “G” part of my day. Ain’t nothing but a G thang.

At the gym:
-35 minutes of intervals on the elliptical
-30 minutes of new-to-my-routine weight machines
-20 minutes of speed walking on the ‘mill

I felt marvelous after that! You know it’s a good workout when your elbow-pit is sweating.

Drove my hiney home, showered and continued with the “T” part of the day. Jergens Natural Glow is the only way to go. Then I chatted with DM. I think there’s a visit in my very near future!

Before dinner plans with MamaJ and Nannykins, I needed sustenance. Aside from the bites of Whole Foods’ General Tso’s vegan chicken and some veggie straws, I choked down summa dis:

ThinkFierce, obvs.

Unless you like the taste of chalky chemicals and artificial sweeteners, do not buy this. So many strikes against this bar, and it all started with the name. Boh!

Thankfully, a bang-a-langin’ dinner made up for a sad snack. Bring on the “E” part of the day.

Hello, Polo Grille delicacies:

Baked goat cheese with a roasted tomato sauce and crispy flatbreads.

I ate two-thirds of this. Couldn't help it!

Between bites, we sampled some vino:

One red flight, one white flight.

I need training on how to like reds, because at this point, I have a hard time enjoying them. As for the whites, I finished off only one of those teeny glasses. And then I continued to fill my bod with this gorgeous salad:

Greens with golden raisins, dried cranberries, apples, peanut brittle and gorgonzola. Cheese overload.

Mountainous.

With a full tummy, I am now going to watch the even-cheesier-than-my-dinner,Β When in Rome. Fab!

Ciao for now,

Kailey

QUESTION: Do you have your version of GTL or GTE? What is it?

P.S. Does anyone else have this blessing when blogging or using a computer at home?

Puppies at my feet! LOVELOVELOVE.

I am a GTE girl like yourself, though right now its GTE with an S… I’m studying for finals!

PS- That salad looks like it’s the BOMB. And there ain’t no shame in eating 2/3 of the cheese… it looks way too yummy to pass up!

  2. 2 emilee

ahh i have that problem with red wine too. i’m a grandma and love my white zin too too much, hahah. maybe you should start wine testing and posting about it….?

  3. I feel like everyone in the blogworld had blue and red berries in their breaky today…such a delicious combo. Just look at that wine flight- and baked goat cheese? I want. Your eats have been outstanding lately…they’ve always been good, but they reach epic proportions in this post.

I’d have to say I’m a GEL girl…gym, eat, be lazy. It’s the theme of the summer πŸ™‚

  4. GIS

    Gym
    Ice Cream
    Sleep

    Love!

    That goat cheese appetizer? Me.Need.Some.Now.

  5. It took me a while to enjoy red wine, but now I love it! I guess it is an acquired taste.

Cute puppies at your feet! I would say I am blessed since there is always a cat on my lap when I’m on the computer. It’s adorable but pretty difficult to be productive at times. πŸ™‚

  6. Does it make me look bad if I thought “When In Rome” was going to be the Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen movie, but then was disappointed when I clicked your IMDB link?

Maybe bad is the wrong word. Sad is more like it πŸ˜‰

Here’s the link I was hoping for: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324532/

    Love you!!!

  7. baked goat cheese in roasted tomato suace? get the eff out. i want to recreate that IMMIDIATELY!

i guess my version would be GEN – gym, eat, nap. priorities.

and yes, i have puppy foot warmers as well :0)

hmm.. im more of a GSE girl, usually GYM SHOP EAT (shop as in, pick up groceries or something, not like clothes shopping), or GYM SHOWER EAT . or depending how hungry i am, GES, gym eat shower! πŸ™‚
peanut brittle on salad- ah what a good idea! someone the other day actually suggested putting crushed pita chips on salads, and rice cakes i think too. I was like, ooh! good ideas! but peanut brittle looks amazeee πŸ™‚
and, corn bran? What is that? is it good? they kind of look like those puffins cereal. yum. pb puffins πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  12. I love your ThinkThin modification! Even if the bar ended up sucking. Also I don’t even like goat cheese and that looks amazing! You are too lucky to have adorable pups at your feet πŸ™‚

  13. Ahaha GTE, I love it. G doesn’t always make my cut, and unfortunately I don’t have much time for T anymore, but I always make E a priority. Yep E, all day, every day… and I sound like a druggie πŸ˜‰ glad you’re enjoying the leisurely life at home!

  14. “Baked goat cheese”.

    Is that for real?

  15. I just put up a blog post and my dog has been sleeping at my feet the whole time I was writing it. She’s pooped from our run tonight. Otherwise, there’s no way she’d chill at my feet that long.

  16. 19 Meg

All these posts on all these blogs with DOGS! I miss by furboo SO MUCH. SO glad you’re able to give yours some loving πŸ™‚ GOAT CHEESE BALLS? Holy shit that’s amazing.

Hope you have a fantastic week πŸ™‚

  17. 20 Lola

I don’t like red wine either, except when is mixed with some lemonade and vodka, sangria-style πŸ™‚ i love white wine though!
My GTL version would be RTL: run, tan, laundry.

  18. Ahhh love the pups…mine is lying at my feet too! amazing feeling…

  21. I neeeed to show you a picture of my puppy (Boxer cross) at my feet whilst I work. How do I post it?! Nicky

  22. This post is making me miss goat cheese! It used to be my favorite before I became vegan. I have a hard time drinking red wine too, but I love the white.
No G for me at all…. more like SEFIFA (study, eat, watch fifa)

    • 28 snackface

Candace- I wouldn’t tell on you if you sneaked a bit. I suppose this means we need to dine together so that you can get away with this.

  23. I had a reallllly hard time with red wine at first too!! I used to LOVE whites (still do) but I have a newfound love for reds. I’ve found they are just AMAZING with certain foods. And if you ease yourself into it, it’s good.
That salad and the baked goat cheese… oh wow.

  24. I am loving the THink Fierce!!!!

That Bar is SO YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had it last week on my drive home from PA, and had no choice but to eat it, its the only snack I had, and I was so disappointed, choco covered crap!!

  35. my roommate and i watched when i rome last night, too! i thought it was among the worst movies i’ve ever seen…..the saving grace was the zexy josh duhamel (and weirdly, dax shephard).

    YUM to that goatcheese.

  36. Well, I don’t tan, so take the T out of GTE… and hopefully add in a W for work sometime in the next week or so! And yes, just like every other day, my loverly pup is lying down on my feet as I type this. :]

  37. I’ve been a longtime reader (creeper?) of your blog and never commented. But I have done the moving home after graduation thing. Actually, I did it right after an internship that was supposed to guarantee a job. It ain’t a picnic, but when you’ve got moms like yours and mine, it definitely makes it a hell of a lot nicer. Hang in there! Your positive outlook is an underrated factor in getting the job you want.

    • 45 snackface

Nellie- You are SO sweet! Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

  38. oh that goat cheese…
When I’m at home, I enjoy my cat curling next to me while I sleep, and he tries to stop me from blogging πŸ˜€

hahahaha thats not really my whole life but sounds good, right?!?

not a fan of those think thin bars either! LUNA’s all the way!

  41. When in Rome may be cheesy, but I laughed hysterically at the scene where they are in the elevator in the tiny car. In my opinion, it makes the movie. πŸ™‚

  42. that baked goat cheeeese looks good…i may try to remake.

  43. 51 Nicole

Hey This is completely random, but I was wondering if you have any quick recipes for Jay Robb Protein smoothies! I was sent a ton of packets to sample, and I have no idea how to use them! I know I want smoothies, but I really dont know how to make them- and make them good! Haha. Would you use 1 cup of water? 1/2 a banana? 1/2 cup of blueberries?
    I dont know ! Haha
I want to try the chocolate one first…so any ideas?! Thanks !! πŸ™‚

  44. I’m glad someone else thinks those Think Thin bars are atrocious. Chemical laden, no taste, blah…ugh. I was surprised when they started selling them at my gym! I’d eat a Larabar anyday!!!

  45. 53 Shelley (findinghappinessandhealth)

I’m glad you spoke out about those Think Thin bars! I always eye them at Whole Foods, but don’t go for them because I feel like they’d takes chemically. You’ve saved me the money. Thanks! And my version of GTL lately has been ZTE…Zumba, Tan, Eat. I’m a Zumba instructor and teach like errrday, but I’ve also been tanning and eating like nobody’s business. I love summer.

  50. I’m going to have to go reapply my mascara from laughing at this post. You are too fabulous.

Those ThinkThin bars are like someone left cocoa crispies sitting in the front seat of a car on a hot day. Tastes like space food.

  51. Oh shoot, love me some Jersey shore references πŸ™‚ I’m all about the GRE! (Not grad schoolin’ prep for me, at least not yet…. shudder) = Gym, Read, Eat! I’m all about keeping my alabaster skin alabaster πŸ˜‰ And besides, I’m a fake ginger and tans tend to make ginger-heads looks CRAZY WEIRD!

  52. Your foodie pics may be food porn-y, but I read this blog for your WORDS, my friend. Your writing = word porn to me. Thought you should know. πŸ™‚

  53. omg those are my FAVORITE types of salads! i’m definitely a white wine girl too. reds are just way too strong for me and much too bitter.
your food pics are always so delicious-looking. they make my mouth water! :]
    love ya!

  54. all hail mary kate and ashley movies. some of my all-time faves, and there is NO shame in that.

but more so, i want to chat with youuuuuu!

    loves,
    holly

  55. p.s. thinkthin bars are the worst. i tried one once, and almost vomited. no joke.

  56. I’m terrified of the sun. Partly because we all know it’s dangerous to get too much for various reasons but partly because the sun spots and sun damaged skin freak me out. So I’m a GCL – gym, clean, laundry. I am also a little in love with J-wow. LOL

  57. 65 Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies

Umm – the eats look fab girl!!

  58. tell me why…… i was playing in my kickball game, and we were playing a team called GTK. Gym Tan Kickball, and I OBVI have never really watched the jersey shore bc I said whats your teams name?
