Snackie’s Got Her Groove Back

PETUNIAS!!! How the heck are ya! Despite the fact it’s finals week and I should be stressed out, I’m feeling fabulous.

To be honest, I was severely fooded out after the weekend. I didn’t feel like taking pictures of anything, and I didn’t really want to talk about it much. And then, this morning as I was chatting with MamaJ on the phone, she said:

Kailey! How can you be fooded out? It’s your thing!

Mumsycake was absolutely right. I needed to snap out of my non-SnackFace mode and get my groove back. All it took was that little conversation and some fresh groceries.

Although I didn’t photograph it, brunch was a smashing combo of Ezekiel bread, smashed naner, peanut butter, cinnamon and chia seeds. Luscious.

After that and some film watching, I strutted to the gym (whence forth the foodie convo with MamaJ occurred). What did I think about as I ellipticalled these gams for an hour? No, not the cinematography terms about which I was reading. My mind was on the blog.

As soon as I got home, the picture-taking commenced. Here’s a killer cocktail I’ve been enjoying all day:

New drank essentials.

Inspired by the infamous Master Cleanse sipper, I combined water, half a lemon, PureVia and cayenne for what I’m dubbing Sassy Spicy Lemonade. OK, you can get rid of the sassy if you’d like.

I’ve consumed more water today than I have in the past two weeks combined. This also means I’m flying through papier du toilette.

For a post-gym super snacklette, I enjoyed a Fuji and summa dis:

Savory oatsizzles!

In the mix: 1/4 C oats, 1/2 C water, 1/4 C mixture of corn and edamame, pepper, nutritional yeast and hot sauce. Elise, thank you oodles of gluten-free noodles for your version of savory oats! So ridiculously cheesy and delish.

Fabulously full, I showered away the gym stank and got to work on studying. Or so I tried. It’s during these times that I finally get around to things such as laundry. And slicing my first pineapple of the season. Oh pineapple, how you are my favorite succulent fruit of all time. I will risk mouth sores to eat an entire piña.

Before I knew it, hours had flown by and my bod was ready to be fed again. I had a hankering for kale. Peculiar hankering, I know, but the word hankering itself is peculiar. And I’m talking in circles. Le food:

Massaged kale salad and steamed sweet (?) potatoes.

This is looking very Choosing Raw, no? I massaged some kale with lemon juice and EVOO, let it sit for a few, and then added 1/2 an avocado and spoons of nooch. On the side, I very much enjoyed a new-to-me tater. I thought it was a sweet potato, but it’s clearly not. It’s some sort of uber-soft, vanilla-flavored potato. NEW LOVE.

I ate the remainder of the potato with a delicious sauce of peanut butter, almond milk and NuNaturals vanilla stevia drops:

What is that? Just gasms in a bowl, that's all.

It was around this time I received an email from a certain Justin of nut butter fame. Holy sh!t. He saw the creeptastic picture I took of him. What can I say? I just have excellent timing.

Speaking of time, I’m running out of it. I have finals out the ying yang tomorrow, and what have I done? Eaten deliciously, that’s about it.

But I’ve been thinking a lot about how amazing your responses were to my weekend. I started to feel a bit guilty that you couldn’t all be there to enjoy it with me. But what a greedy little gumdrop I would be if I didn’t share the wealth!

    Snackattack! What delicious eats you’ve been enjoying! I am so very glad I’ve never experience being “fooded out”. I’ve lost my appetite on some days, but I chalk that up to things like trying to make canned pumpkin last a littttttle too long in the fridge if ya catch my drift.

    Ever fooded out? Definitely! Sometimes I find myself completely overwhelmed after a trip to Trader Joe’s. I get all jacked up on the adrenaline of all the deliciousness and buy a TON of diff things nad then just don’t know what to do with it when I get home! Though its the type of problem that I’m okay with having =)

    1. Honestly.. not even for drinking! Protein powders for me are for protein-filled pancakes, cupcakes, muffins.. errythang! I’ve used Jay Robb’s before & everything turns out perrrfect.

    I use protein powda every day in my post run green smoothie. Yummers. I love how it makes the smoothie thick and luscious. And it helps to up my daily protein intake and helps my muscles recover.

    Fooded out ever? For sure. When that happens, I usually just drink tons of water. Maybe next time I should try the cayenne and lemon combo.

  97. I actually do get fooded out. I love food and cooking and baking and enjoy it in a way I don’t anything else, but sometimes I do get tired of thinking about food ALL the time. Especially around stressful food situations like not having the money to go out all the time, or having to eat tons and tons to keep my weight up, or having to defend my diet choices and tastes (because as I’m sure you’ve experienced, us foodies have much more developed tastebuds and sometimes “normal” people just aren’t ready to appreciate our concoctions). I also wonder if my brainpower could go to more productive things, like when I should be working or studying or finding more work so I can pay for all this food, but instead I’m dreaming of baking cookies or the next whole foods trip.

    I usually use vanilla vegan rice protein powder in almond or soy milk after I do some heavy weight lifting AKA lift 4 pound hand weights cause my arms are skinny and weak. I also put it in my cereal to get in as much protein as I can. The powder I use tastes kinda chalky which is why I could totally use this stuff!

    Whenever I think I get fooded out, I’m hungry 2 hours later. It’s like my belly is saying “Hay gurl, I’m full…just kidding.”

    I don’t get fooded out too much, but sometimes it hits me like, “UGH, why do I spend so much time per day eating and thinking bout food!” But with so many times of food, I just go with the flow and don’t get bogged down by one variety. 🙂 Basically, I don’t get tired of food, but I could imagine I would if I tried to take pics of all that I eat.
