Production Rates Rise

It’s Monday…again! Woohoo, let’s all try to be pumped for the beginning of a new week! I certainly have a lot ahead of me, and I’m sure you all do as well. Sometimes the thought of everything that must be done is daunting, but we must take it one day at a time. It’s easy to forget that, though, and I always work myself up about Thursday when it’s Monday. One day at a time, Kailey. Do you do this too?

Good news is, I was finally productive yesterday! I woke up confused at the time change and not wanting to move from bed. Laziness was reflected in my food choices, as you’ll see. This is all I wanted for breakfast:

I lounged on my bed for a bit, eating breakfast and reading blogs, talking to MamaJ (about her upcoming birthday!!) and Muffin, and had an impossible time peeling myself from this comfortable position of procrastination.

To get myself out of this “but I don’t wanna…” mood, I took my laundry to our basement to wash two weeks worth of filth. The stairs to our basement are so steep and terriying they will wake you immediately. Then I came back into my room and started to clean. The urge just swept over me, and I went with it. After this, I was finally able to start working. That’s all it took—a clean atmosphere!

In the afternoon I: wrote an art review, wrote an opinion piece for a women’s literary magazine, read about Wayang performances (puppet theater in Bali, Java, etc.) and ate this smallish snack plate:

Snack plates are the shiii. They are palette-pleasing and keep your brain and mouth busy for a while. What happened after this is a blur; I just kept writing and writing all day, so things in my memory get mushy.

Before I knew it, it was time for dinner. I made the usual Sunday night fare: sweet potato with some other veg. While the sweet p’s were baking, I thought I’d try to make granola. Here is why granola at 450* for 15 minutes is a bad idea:

Those blueberry-looking things are what happens to raisins when they get too hot. I still tried a couple bites of this to see if I could do anything with it, but no, charcoal-flavored granola ain’t my thing. This made me feel better:

I needed more sugar after this, and luckily a mouthgasmic pecan pie sits in our fridge:

This pie is nothing but decadence. I think life should be nothing but decadence, so I will eat this every single day until it is gone.

I headed to chorale rehearsal immediately after dinner. We have a concert on Tuesday and it’s in the church. I love singing in a church; it is one of my favorite venues. There’s something about singing “Ride On, King Jesus” in the church that is powerful and perfect. And I’m not even that religious.

I walked home and was struck by thirst. I stopped at BP to get this new find Muffin and I spotted earlier in the weekend:

As one who doesn’t like to drink her calories on a regular basis, I was thrilled to find this. What’s even more thrilling is that it is naturally sweetened with Truvia! I was all ova this. I walked home and contemplated what it tasted like. It was so familiar to me…ding ding ding! BLUE Slushies! This tastes exactly like them! I have a feeling a new addiction is on the way…

Once home, I had the last of the Cinna-Graham Honeycomb (probably a cup’s worth) with soymilk. Though I had a great time with this cereal, I am contemplating watching my sugar intake. This must go. My body digested this cereal horribly ( I won’t go into gurgley details).  I know that my body depises overly-processed foods, so I think I’ll honor that now.

I was up until 2:30 a.m. reading Thank You for Smoking by Christopher Buckley. If you’ve seen the movie, the book is almost exactly like it. I find it more enjoyable, though, as the writing is fast paced, witty and the characters are given such distinct personalities that I connect with them more than I could in the movie. I have another half to read tonight.

Today is a full day:
10-12: IART
-12-1: Women’s Chorale
1-2ish: Work out
2-8: Eat, blog, write English paper, read, eat
-8-10: Chorale rehearsal
-10-?: Finish Thank You for Smoking

Alright, gotta get me some breakfast and catch up with your lives. Love you bunches!

  2. YEAH GIRL, you’re going to kill it this week! I am totally the same way, I’ll freak out about things happening next MONTH! So silly, putting it all into perspective is what keeps me somewhat sane! I would LOVE to read your article — ehh even though I’m technically an advertising major in the J-School, Lord knows I appreciate a piece of fine writing!!

  9. haha oh NO sorry about your granol incident- make sure you stir it around after each like, 5 minute point….i have an old school gas oven where 450 means like 800 so i only do 10 min! Good luck todayyy

    I know what you mean – I totally get ahead of myself when I think about everything that I need to get done. Congrats on being to productive – I also have weeks of laundry to catch up with =( I love the way you make your sweet potatoes – how exactly do you do that?

  15. I JUST told myself to take things one day at a time last night. I was started to freak out about things that are coming up in two weeks when I have enough to worry about this week. Ummm dumb! Calmmmnn down right? Haha

    Snack plates are the way to go. I love em.

    The first time I ever tried to make granola I burnt it too. I haven’t tried since. I’m afraid. I guess watching it is kind of important eh?

    I think you should definitely post your literary piece! I’d be interested in checking it out for sure.
